A SHORT HISTORY OF WILD RICE
Called Manomin by the Indians, Wild Rice, a truly American food, was originally harvested in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada by the Ojibwa, Chippewa, and Sioux, who relied on it as a staple in their diet.

Actually an aquatic grass, it was likened to rice by the first French voyageurs, and thus became known as Wild Rice.

Wild rice is naturally low in fat and sodium, and high in protein, complex carbohydrates, potassium, B vitamins and fiber. Wild rice is naturally cholesterol free. This healthy food is also a good source of dietary fiber and niacin.

Wild Rice is an almost perfect food. The bonus that it tastes so good makes it irresistible!
